Priorities

To select and sort out the priorities of RIS3-CV, participants in the exercise considered building a matrix with the main regional innovation clusters and their potentialities in terms of knowledge and market application.

In order to establish the points on which to focus attention, working groups were organized around the areas of potential development with the greatest impact and economic projection in the Comunitat Valenciana.

The other axis of the matrix took into account the key enabling technologies (KETs) identified by the European Commission in the proposal for the new Cohesion Policy as a relevant investment priority for smart growth in the regions. Three work teams, by affinity and degree of implementation of technologies in the Valencia Region, carried out the analysis of potential and applicability of KETs. To these were added a group on information and communication technologies (ICTs), an inescapable cross-cutting framework on which to build competitive strengths in regional economic development.

It was also understood that ensuring innovation for sustainable growth will require designing interventions to help overcome the market failures required by a low-carbon economy, and cross-cutting analyses of energy, environmental, logistics and transport technologies were proposed.
