The Regional Government approves the creation of the technological platform Qualiment

The Follow-up Committee of the Regional Government for the Smart Specialisation Strategy of the Comunitat Valenciana (RIS3-CV) has unanimously approved the creation of the Qualiment technological platform or agrifood lab, proposed by the regional Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development.

The Qualiment technological platform was created with the aim of strengthening the Valencia Region as a reference point for sustainable production of healthy and quality food, taking into account economic and environmental factors and the appropriate use of natural resources. In fact, the production of sustainable, safe, healthy and quality food is one of the four pillars of the Valencian RIS3.

The agri-food industry begins its journey with entities of the four innovation propellers: companies (Fedacova and Federació de Cooperatives Agroalimentaries de la Comunitat Valenciana); knowledge centres (IVIA, AINIA, IATA and Valencian public universities); society, through consumer associations; and Administration (Directorate General for Rural Development and PAC and IVACE).

The Valencian agri-food sector is of great social and environmental importance, since more than 60% of the territory is linked to agricultural production. It is also leader in the Valencia Region in terms of contributions to industrial sector GDP, exports and job creation. The agri-food industry also accounts for approximately 9% of total industrial enterprises, 20% of exports, 13% of industrial employment and 16% of net turnover.
